Your day will start at the honey factory close to Kissamos. Here you'll get to taste the different Honey found in Crete called Thyme honey and learn more about how honey is collected, processed and brought to market.

The Topolia Gorge (also known as Topoliano) is situated inland in Kissamos, in the western part of the Chania region. It starts near the village of Topolia and stretches around 1,500 meters before emerging into a lush valley near Koutsomatados village. The hike through the gorge, which is quite manageable, takes about an hour. Despite its relatively short length, the gorge is striking, featuring a rugged landscape. The sheer walls tower at a height of 300 meters, and the stream bed's width ranges from 5 to 50 meters. The stream is lined with plane trees, oleanders, and other plants typical of Crete's countryside. Numerous birds seek refuge in the crevices, cracks, and caves of the otherwise bare gorge walls. The gorge is notable for its many shallow caves and hollows within the walls.

Inside the gorge, you'll find Saint Sophia or Hagia Sophia's cave, with only a small section accessible to visitors. Additionally, there's a chapel dedicated to Saint Sophia near the main road. The cave entrance spans 25 meters, boasting two main rooms and impressive stalagmites. Moreover, a rare spider species known as Pholcus creticus has been discovered in this cave.
